2nd-4th century AD. A rectangular carved schist figural panel with border of undulating tendril between rosettes; the central feature a stupa carved in high relief with two small nimbate Buddha figures in the base between trapezoidal columns, lattice with rosettes, chequerboard panel, lotus-flower dome with check panel above and graduated domed disc; two flanking attendants with hands pressed together in worship; mounted on a custom-made stand. 67 kg, 70cm including stand (27 1/2"). From a private UK collection; formerly with Parthenon Gallery, London, WC1. Very fine condition.
