Description: Qing Dynasty Blue & Copper-Red Underglazed Porcelain Meiping Vase W/Imperial Dragons Motif (Has Qianlong Archaic Seal Mark) - This stunning meiping vase is of typical form, with a narrow mouth and small neck resting on high, broad shoulders, and a tall body tapering off to a shallow ring foot. The vase is elaborately decorated with an imperial dragons motif against a background of underglazed copper-red waves. The dragons have five claws, suggesting that this piece was made for imperial use, as pieces made for nobility depict dragons with five claws (while pieces made for the public use three or four claws). The base bears the Qianlong period archaic seal mark in blue underglaze. This piece comes from the estate of a Vietnamese Royal Family (the family now lives in the United States, and wishes to remain private as they still have relatives living in Vietnam). Measurements: 13"H x 8"W.
