FINE PAIR OF 'SEVRES' GILT BRONZE-MOUNTED PAINTED AND PARCEL GILT PORCELAIN COVERED VASES late 19th century, Paris, the painting by Poitevin,the baluster sky blue and cobalt ground vessels painted in the Art Nouveau taste; with fluted necks above tapered bodies, each depicting a maiden, representing Spring and Autumn, she wears a floral garland and gathers flowers in a seasonal garden, a putto assists by her side, further decorated with flanking gilt floral sprays of a different species, the reverse painted with foliate trophies incorporating a spilt jug and wine cask; the sides with applied gilt bronze flower-filled cornucopia handles, raised on a fluted gilt decorated base, above a bronze support cast with neoclassical motifs, each signed Poitevin on a leaf to the right of each figure, the removable lids with interlaced 'L' s enclosing an N, above an S.
