A PAIR OF VASES, MING DYNASTY (1368-1644) STYLE CLOISONNé INLAID GILT BRONZE MOUNTED DRAGON AND PHOENIX, CHINESE, attributed to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), each Zun form neck attachment with flared petal form rim over a pinched neck, with partial reserves centering, figures of a phoenix in flight over a red spotted rocky formation, amongst swirling peach, purple, mint, yellow and blue clouds, opposed by a writhing dragon holding a blue flaming pearl of wisdom above rising mountains, within a blue ground inlaid with scrolling lotus tendrils and pink and yellow flower blossoms, flanked by exquisitely chased relief qilin mask form handles, of the mythical beast, surmounting an ovoid baluster form vase, at the mouth, a repeating yellow gourd flower and leaf motif, over a body with four reserves, each with respective phoenix and dragon figures, the phoenix with three auspicious symbols in the clouds, and dragon with six toes descending over green luishu waves and blue mountains, ending with a feather motif band, raised on a circular foot with like gourd flower bloom pattern, verso a four character kaishu Xuande (1426-1435) engraved mark within two squares, on wood stands.
