An inside painted crystal snuff bottle and two others
20th centuryThe first inscribed Zhou Leyuan and painted to one side with jagged rockwork and a cauldron below text and seal, the reverse with single scholar in landscape, 6.5cm high; the second painted with well-observed song birds on branches with poetic text and seal marks to each side, 6.9cm high; and the third inscribed Ye Zhongsan and painted with chrysanthemums and mountainous landscape, 6.5cm high.All raised on oval footrims and with stoppers. Provenance: from a collection amassed in Hong Kong during the late 1960s and early 1970s by an English civil engineer working on the first cross-harbour tunnel and later in the 1970s on the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) and now by descent to the current owner.
