BUDDHA SHAKYAMUNI
BronzeTibet, 19th cent.The historical Buddha, Gautama from the Shakyamuni Family, is seated on a lotus throne in padmasana and holds an alms bowl (patra), a symbol of his dignity as grandmaster of the sangha. The lotus throne is very expressive in its form, the ush-nisha pronounced. On the bottom is the original closure with vishvavajra.
