Alabaster, wood, gold lacquer, glass stone insetsBurma, first half of 20th centuryThis alabaster and lacquer-gilt wood figure depicts a nat with a Buddha-like appearance; fine smile, long earlobes, seated in padmasana on a wooden base and showing the bhumisparsha mudra. The nat is wearing an elaborate stepped crown with openwork decorations that is removable with a finial which is also removable.
