Original color woodblock printJapan, 1865-1866This original color woodblock print by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (1839-1892) from the series Eimei kumi-uchi zoroi (“Famous Fights Between Brave Men”) shows the 12th century samurai Tomoe Gozen – who despite the title of this series was a woman – defeating another samurai warrior named Uchida Saburo.
