Original color woodblock prints, Kuchi-eJapan, c. 1900These nine original color woodblock prints are kuchi-e, frontispieces for Japanese novels or magazines, and include works by Takeuchi Keishu (1861-1943) and Terazaki Kogyo (1866-1919). They depict mostly women, including a nurse and a lady chasing fireflies with a fan, although one piece also shows a romantic couple while another shows two dark figures in the background.
