Yangshao culture (c. 3000-2000 BC), Majiayao, Machang style
This vessel is very typical and common for Majiayao culture (a more general category) and, with its light craftsmanship and excellent firing, already evidences mastery of firing methods. Two ribbon-shaped eyelet handles are located at the middle of the vessel. The lower, undecorated half is conic in form; the upper, curved half is painted in a similar way to no. 2, though without fingers or hands. The mouth's short neck is curved.
