A BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN LIDDED VASE, KANGXI, VUNG TAU CARGO

China, Kangxi period (1662 – 1722)
The lidded vase in the form of a pagoda, executed in fine blue and white porcelain. The central depiction with a fisherman scene and many blossoming flowers. The vase was salvaged from the Vung Tau shipwreck, which sunk in 1690, the glaze has been extensively worn through the many years under water, giving it a ‘ceramic’ feel.
Dimensions: HEIGHT 15.5 CM
Condition: Worn condition from being underwater, but extraordinarily well preserved, minor fill around the base
