AN INDIAN MINIATURE PAINTING OF A PRINCELY GREEN-BROWN BIRD ON A BRANCH
AN INDIAN MINIATURE PAINTING OF A PRINCELY GREEN-BROWN BIRD ON A BRANCH
Colour painting on paper
India, 19th cent.
A particularly delicate and finely drawn, or painted depiction! Details are accurately and precisely rendered, for example, the yellow eye that is closely watching us – the observer. The bird is sitting on a brown branch and is itself partially brown, however, yellow on the abdomen, green around the neck and white on the throat. Pointy, slightly curved beak and long brown-white tail feathers. On the bottom, an inscription in slanted Persian Nastaliq. In passe-partout.
