Miniature painting with colours and gold on paper. India, 19th cent. Very fine multi-figured painting, showing part of a white palace building with awning and terrace in front. Standing on the terrace is the four-headed creator deity Brahma with a black beard and books in his hands, depicted here as Pitamaha (grandfather). Next to him is a wise saint, to whom the royal palace residents are bringing adorational offerings. Below the Brahma is an ascetic with a snake and, on the lawn, are wise men and saints sitting around a fire. Very beautiful floral border with gold. Matted and framed.

Condition: Some minor paint losses and minor wears, overall good condition
