A BASTAR BRONZE OF RARE WARRIOR ON A HORSE
Bronze
India, 19th-20th century
The warrior is a representation of true corporeality and is emphatically upright and high. Everything is strangely alienated, rendered unreal. The wheels are missing, but that seems very marginal. Moon and sunshine symbol on the of chest of the horse. The warrior is equipped with a sword in the left hand and holds the horse firm in his right. The details in this piece are oscillating from real to unreal. It’s a true masterpiece.
