A BASTAR BRONZE OF AN ELEPHANT WITH HOWDAH

A very unique decorated elephant with a of diamond like patterning around its body, The head is adorned with linear and diamond patterns and at the back of it’s forehead is the moon and sunshine symbol. All four legs are marked with spirals. The ears are flapped back and the trunk is decorated with fine linear patterns. The elephant’s expression is portraying calmness. The mahout is sitting at the back of the elephants ahead armed with a sceptre and a dagger. All the howdah’s side are decorated with small spirals.
Dimensions: HEIGHT 19 CM
Condition: This piece is almost complete the howdah’s roof is missing, but the elephant itself is in a very good condition.
