CROWNED BUDDHA MARAVIJAYA

Emphatically royal depiction of the Buddha Shakyamuni sitting in padmasana on an outwardly slanted throne, wider at its base. Particularly well executed are the sensitive facial features of a “royal Buddha”. Hands in earth-touching position, Bhumisparsha, with which the enlightened one announces his victory over evil. The decorative lotus leaf and flaming pearl forms are depicted similar to one another, the last having the form of distinctly protruding points. On the front of the throne’s cushion is an animal.
