Description: An Ottoman engraved silver and parcel-gilt pen case, devit
18th/19th century
Possibly Egyptian, the slender, slightly tapering pen holder with engraved scrolling design, one side apparently inscribed in Arabic script "Kalawun" and "Sultan, the just...Amir, the Victorious" and "by Muammad", hinged cover, connected to an octagonal ink well with hinged cover, stamped mark with indistinct tugra to underside of well, a second indistinct stamp to side of pen case.
