The smiling figure is carved wearing an officials cap and robes, and holding a pair of castanets. The base is apocryphally inscribed 'Qianlong'.

Condition: Chips to the back of the scholar's cap which have been polished.
There are age cracks to the ivory by the foot.
The base has been glued onto the foot.
