Cast and engraved silver with floral designs and a long needle with movable ring which helps secure the fibula to the textile, both fibula are connected by a chain.
Fibulae were commonly worn by women as an everyday adornment whilst going about daily work as well as on special occasions. It is essentially a cloak fastener, comprising an ornate metal triangular, round or oval shape with detailed etchings in filigree or enamel, and a pin which serves to fasten two layers of material together. They were usually worn as a pair. These type of Fibulae are worn by Berbers, the indigenous ethnic group of North Africa.
