Description: JAPANESE HAND CARVED WOODEN NETSUKE 2 H 2", 2.25" Two hand carved wooden netsuke. The first depicts a frog holding a large gourd and is signed. The second depicts a monkey riding a horse who has bent his head to drink, and is unsigned. Netsuke were originally used as counter weights for Japanese purses; the imaginative carvings reflect the culture of particular moments in Japanese culture and have always been collected. Measuring approximately 2" tall with a 2.25" diameter.
