EXTRAORDINARY, FINE 18th C. Chinese Qing Dynasty Qianlong reign (11 October 1735 - 8 February 1796) blue-white dragon porcelain centerpiece. Porcelain plate potted of the shallow vessel, rounded cavetto emerged steeply rounded sides further to flat wide opening, raised on a splayed countersunk tall foot base. The exterior plate hand-painted with a underglazed blue of interlocking auspicious pendant pattern. The depiction of Thrashing Long Five-claws dragon amongst dense Li-Shui waves, reaching for flaming pearls on the tall foot base. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Lishui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. The receded central under base remain white underglaze. The clay fine and exquisite, the glaze smooth with a moist appearance, the finishing meticulous. The porcelain conformed all required specimen to be highly valued Chinese Guanyao porcelain Imperial wares, with the finest material, the whiteness, the glaze, the painting, and the shape.
The interior under-base bears a reign mark, a horizontal six under-glazed blue seal script characters reign mark, Made in The Years of Qianlong Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty. A retired engineer and Christian School Administrator, has had the heart of a missionary to serve in many foreign countries aiding in building orphanages and hospitals in Russia, Romania, Ukraine, and other Asian countries. His present work is in Lima Peru. There he is using his talents to help develop safe drinking water and establish sanitary conditions inside the hospital. He is the parent to 16 children most of which are adopted from various countries. His worldwide travels have allowed him to enjoy the ability to collect treasures, some of his collection will be sold at auction to help raise funds for his ongoing work in Peru.
