MAGNIFICENT, 15th C. Chinese Ming Dynasty Xuande reign period (27 June 1425 - 31 January 1435) blue and white fish pond motif lidded Meiping jar. Thick Chinese porcelain shaped into a traditional Meiping form, with a narrow base, wide body, slender neck easing to form a petite opening covered with dome lids decorated with reverse bowl porcelain floral blooms pattern scrolling twigs and crowned by a flower bud creature finial. The exterior depiction is of a meandering carp swimming through lotus blooms and underwater vegetation. The carp is accepted to represent longevity, wealth, abundance, and perseverance. Upper Shoulder Collar contains images intertwining floral vines. The underside base left unglazed, reveal pale-creme with burnt grayish-orange spots in the firing. The glaze appearance on the blue painting resembled the texture of an orange peel ju-pi (chu-p'i) or a chicken skin. The clay is fine and exquisite, the glaze smooth, brilliant with a moist appearance, the finishing meticulous. The under base bear a reign mark, a vertical six underglazed blue script characters reign mark enclosed within double fine rings, Xuande Reign Period of Great Ming Dynasty.

A retired engineer and Christian School Administrator, has had the heart of a missionary to serve in many foreign countries aiding in building orphanages and hospitals in Russia, Romania, Ukraine, and other Asian countries. His present work is in Lima Peru. There he is using his talents to help develop safe drinking water and establish sanitary conditions inside the hospital. He is the parent to 16 children most of which are adopted from various countries. His worldwide travels have allowed him to enjoy the ability to collect treasures, some of his collection will be sold at auction to help raise funds for his ongoing work in Peru.
