FASCINATING, Pair of 16th Chinese Ming Dynasty Jiajing reign period Sancai glazed dragon and phoenix porcelain flower bud vase. Chinese porcelain phoenix tail shaped beaker having baluster shaped body, with cylindrical midsection, a large trumpet-shaped neck extending into an expansive opening, raised on a prominent splayed foot base. The astounding artistry fills the entire surface and inside area with interlaced Dragon and Phoenix in pursuits of centralized Longevity Shou character medallion, amidst ruyi clouds and wavy Lishui water patterns. Dragon Long is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fertility.
Banded with numerous auspicious motif ribbons on the rim, shoulder, and foot. The composition is sophisticated and the colors are simply a feast for the eye. The porcelain conformed all required specimen to be highly valued Chinese Guanyao porcelain Imperial wares, with the finest material, the whiteness, the glaze, the painting, and the shape. Both Phoenix Tail vases displayed upon a carved hardwood stand.
The under base bear a reign mark, a vertical six under-glazed blue script characters reign mark, Jiajing Reign Period of Great Ming Dynasty. A retired engineer and Christian School Administrator, has had the heart of a missionary to serve in many foreign countries aiding in building orphanages and hospitals in Russia, Romania, Ukraine, and other Asian countries. His present work is in Lima Peru. There he is using his talents to help develop safe drinking water and establish sanitary conditions inside the hospital. He is the parent to 16 children most of which are adopted from various countries. His worldwide travels have allowed him to enjoy the ability to collect treasures, some of his collection will be sold at auction to help raise funds for his ongoing work in Peru.
