Very Fine, extraordinary Chinese Nephrite jade of covered urn in original protective box. Expertly carved in tapered baluster shape, with ovoid central body, raised on splayed concave foot base, beneath the wide prominent neck with domed lid and faceted flaring finial. The central body decorated with intricately detail carving of front facing vigorous five claws dragon borne amidst dense of stylized ruyi clouds and fumes. Two elephant mask surmounted on neck creates handles, each trunk suspending a free ring. Relief of further comforting rococo symmetrical floral motif on neck beneath the plain banded rim. Well balanced with finely polished plain side and foot base. Preciously displayed upon open-work carved hardwood stand. The art work shows masterly craftsmanship, smooth carving, gently and finely polished. Nephrite jade displays attractive clean even tone pale-celadon in color, with moist milky appearance. A portion of this high-grade white Jade is considered quite rare. Expert workmanship is the absolute highlight of this gorgeous vase.
The Jade urn is set into form fitting blue metallic hard-cushions. Bordered with bright-lemon-yellow ribbon on the pedestal. All reserved inside the original slide lidded protective hardwood box. Jim Francis was a true scholar having a degree in English. His early career started as a professor at a community college in Kentucky. During the Vietnam era, he became an instructor for the US Air Force. When computers were first becoming popular Jim became a software engineer which lead him to a career in being a method analyst for a major hospital group. While working with Doctors from different cultures Jim became an avid collector of Chinese items, His widow has placed his treasured articles to be sold at auction. The Collections of Mr. Jim Francis are presented and offered up to auction from Lot-101 through Lot-128.
