EXTRAORDINARY, (1875-1908) Chinese Qing Dynasty Guangxu reign period (1875-1908) Famille rose fruit abundant over red glazed porcelain bowl. Finely potted with simply gently rounded side emerging steeply to a flat opening rim, raised on the concave footed ring base. The exterior decorated around the bowl with hand painting against the red underglaze ground depicted a group of ripe fruits abundant weighing down the bough. Pomegranate is known as the fruit of happiness for its red color and is a symbol of plentiful offspring for its many seeds. The Daoist attribute to it the same power as the peach of immortality. Peaches are known to resemble immortality, marriage, and spring-time. Daoist also believes the peach tree grows near the palace of Xiwangmu who is the Queen of the Immortals. The ruby-red glaze background is balanced, elegant and exquisite. The porcelain conformed all required specimen to be highly valued Chinese Guanyao porcelain Imperial wares, with the finest material, the whiteness, the glaze, the painting, and the shape. The foot rim reveals the cut edges during the making process, and the base left unglazed with grayish creme-brown ground and dark spots of firing marks. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant finish that was applied by a meticulous glaze, the shape is uniformly proportioned.
