SUPERB, 18th C. Chinese Qing Dynasty sgraffito porcelain high stem bowl. Deep porcelain bowl, with rounded cavetto rising to form the steep curvature, raised on a splayed countersunk tall foot base, with the height of the foot is half the height of the entire object. Meticulous finish sgraffito dragon carving beneath the attractive egg-yolk-yellow monochrome glazed covers the delicate clay, showing silky smooth sheen and conforming the dragon design. The immaculate porcelain body covered with a characteristic silky glaze. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity and the Lishui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant finish that was applied by a meticulous glaze, the shape is uniformly proportioned.
The interior under-base bears a Reign Mark, horizontal six underglazed blue seal script characters reign mark, Made in The Years of Qianlong Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
