A matched pair of Chinese porcelain kraak dishes, Wanli period, early 17th century, deeply dished with barbed rim, the central octagonal reserve decorated with a bird on a rocky outcrop beneath a peony bush and stylised clouds, within a diaper border, the uprising rim with radiating lappet panels enclosing fruiting and flowering plants and smaller panels with Buddhistic emblems, 12in. (30.5cm.) diameter, one with hairline to rim. (2)
, *Condition: Both with a few small glaze frits to rim and some glaze flaws from the making. One with 3in. firing crack beneath glaze to base of rim. The other with 2in. hairline to rim. No other faults.
