China, Ming Dynasty, blue and white double gourd vase, slightly squared body of a double gourd form, Ruyi pattern bordered at base, with a wave design border at the waist, densely decorated with interlocking geometrical pattern on shoulder and mouth, showing a 'shou' medallion on mouth rim, the main decoration is hand painted with sages figurine against the landscape on the center body and neck. Underglaze blue are stable with subtle shades. The Lines of the drawings are clear; the light and dark shades are subtle. Scattered minor glaze anomalies. The decoration of the double belly shows harmony in design. It is dense but not too crowded. Mark on base, six blue script -KaiShu- characters, JiaJing Reign Period of Great Ming. Dimension: 14-3/8" H x 7-7/8" Diam.
