Description: Pair of large framed ancestor portraits, color on silk, both finely painted and detailed portraits of lady in a red robe and gentleman in a blue robe, both of the royal family and wearing the dress of the Ming Dynasty, they are seated solemnly in a frontal position in a chair. She wears a fengguan or phoenix coronet (influenced by the tall headgear or gugu worn by Mongol aristocrats) with an elaborate network of pendant pearls as well as the chest badge or mandarin square (buzi) of the phoenix on her red robe, China, Qing Dynasty, 19th/20th century.
