A rare and very fine mid-Kangxi shallow bowl; it has a short vertical wall, decorated in cobalt blue a scene around a lake and with a poem “the returning boat has not anchored yet, but the wind and rain have arrived”; the glaze is unctuous and pure white, reflecting a fine white clay body; the blue is pure and bright, typical for mid Kangxi cobalt blue; the outer base has an imperial hall mark “Yun Chan Chwen Mei”. It has a minute line of glaze shrinkage on the bottom. Diameter 6 in. Provenance: Dr. Robert I-San Lin’s Collection of Important Chinese Arts, brought to California in 1960s
