An extremely rare and important early Northern Song Dynasty Yao Zhou celadon covered jar; it has a fine and thin body representing the highest quality of early Yao Zhou wares; the glaze is olive-green, typical for earliest Yao Zhou celadon; the motif is full-blossoming peony flowers that was popular during earlier Tang Dynasty; the high outward sloping foot is decorated with 5 concentric ridged circles; all these make this jar an early Song treasure.
