Huang Xiaoshu (1900-1964, alternative names include Qiong'an and Gongzhu) 'Hut by Bamboos and Stream' Inscription: The inscription starts with a 4-line 7-syllable poem by Wang Anshi (1021-1086 famous scholar and politician of Northern Song Dynasty), describing a peaceful mountain dwelling surrounded by bamboo groves and a stream. It is followed by: (the second month of 1943, Qiong'an Huang Xiaoshu painted in the style of Zhao Danian.) Huang Xiaoshu is best known for his classical writing, poetry, seal carving and traditional painting. Zhao Danian, the artist mentioned in the inscription refers to Zhao Lingrang (early 12th Century), who was a member of the Imperial family in the Northern Song Dynasty, a high-status official and a literati painter. 99cm x 33cm approx.
