Two bronze okimono
Taisho (1912-1926) or Showa (1926-1989) era, 20th centuryThe first constructed in two detachable sections, a sekirei (wagtail) perched atop a jakago (stone-filled basket) attached with green leaves and a mooring post, unsigned, 4cm x 25.5cm (1 5/8in x 10in), with a wood storage box inscribed Chudo jakago ni sekirei (cast bronze of wagtail and stone-filled basket); the second an insect cage containing two bamboo mantises on a bamboo perch, the outside of the cage applied with a pair of birds on a berried branch, unsigned, 36.5cm (14 3/8in) high.
