Jack W. Heuer had the idea for a new watch line to attract a younger market segment and he renewed the sponsorship contract with the Ferrari Racing team. The Heuer logo was positioned prominently on Ferrari racing cars in Formula 1 and sports car series for the second year. The Ferrari drivers Jacky Ickx and Clay Regazzoni as well as the Swedish driver Ronnie Peterson were elected to display the Heuer Chronograph badge on their racing suits. The young Belgian driver Jacky Ickx was chosen as ambassador for a new chronograph line carrying his name and signature on the dial. The Jacky Ickx Easy-Rider chronograph was promoted during the race season around the world. A highly appealing miniature replica of Jacky Ickx's racing helmet was made to serve as a watch case and presented to the public at the Basel watch fair in 1972. The chromed metal case of the watch with tachymeter division houses a pin-pallet movement featuring date and a 15 minute sub register. Four different colour combinations black, blue, white and red like the Ferraris were available.
