A CHINESE BRONZE ARCHAISTIC INCENSE BURNER AND COVER
17TH CENTURY
The compressed circular body decorated with stylised birds and taotie masks on a diaper pattern, with two chilong-shaped handles, the domed cover with pierced decoration of feathery leaves and a lion dog finial, all raised on three mask-headed legs, a four character Xuande mark to the underside, 36cm, 6kg. Provenance: from a Hong Kong private collection, purchased from Duke's on July 26th 2007, lot 435.
