Both vols. printed on LARGE PAPER (ca. 28 x 22 cm.) and bound in impressive mirror-bindings most probably by the famous Dutch book-binder ALBERTUS MAGNUS (1642-1689) for the Dutch collector PAULUS VAN UCHELEN (1642-1702) whose magnificent library was sold in Amsterdam in 1703 by Henrik Wetstein (our set listed as no. 627 (“Groot pamp[ier].”) on p. 120 in this auction-sale catalogue of the “Bibliotheca Ucheliana”). Ex bibliotheca Jacob Kalff with his book-plate printed by “[Oscar] Consee, München”. – A few small defects (bindings sl. soiled/ stained, vol. 1 lacks both free end-papers, small owner’s stamp on frontisp. & both titles, small hole in upper blank margin of leaf Aa1 in vol. 1, both fold. engravings small tear in outer margin, both vols. more or less foxed/ browned throughout), but nevertheless an attractive set.
