Description: Gedaan en beschreeven door Govard Bidloo, [..]. Uitgebeeldt, naar het Leeven, in Honderd en vyf Afteekeningen, Door de Heer Gerard De Lairesse. T'Utrecht, By Jacob van Poolsum [..], 1734, consisting of 5 unnumb. introductory text-leaves (incl. title & index) & 62 unnumb. explanatory text-leaves. With engraved frontispiece, engraved title-vignette & 105[=106] engraved plates (numbered “T.1.-T.105.” in the plate) after G. de Lairesse. Folio, 20th-cent. blindst. panelled morocco, both covers with inside gilt fillet border. ? BMN I, p. 84. Choulant pp. 93-95. Cf. Wellcome II, p. 165 & Bibliotheca Walleriana 1039 (both listing the first Dutch edition of 1690). Rare re-edition (only 3 copies in NCC) of a Dutch translation of the famous anatomical atlas “Anatomia Humani Corporis” by the Dutch physician Govert Bidloo (1649-1713) illustrated with beautiful large-sized engravings (probably by the Dutch print-makers Abraham Blooteling or Pieter van Gunst) after drawings by the Dutch artist Gérard de Lairesse (1640-1711). – Lacks probably the engr. portrait of G. Bidloo by A. Blooteling (present in the Dutch edition of 1690), but the number of anatomical engravings is complete (plate no. 10 consists of 2 separate engravings). A few defects (plate no. 41 & 53 torn in outer part (both neatly restored), a few text-leaves/ engravings sl. (finger-)soiled/ stained in outer (blank) margin), but nevertheless in good condition.
