A GOLD-INLAID PIERCED AXE (TABARZIN) Possibly Mysore, India, 19th century? With a long, later added wooden shaft with brass rosettes, the crescent moon-shaped axe head pierced and decorated with two renversant lions, below them a lion attacking a gazelle, an engraved elephant near the joint of the blade to the base, epigraphic inscriptions on the base, 65.2 cm long including the shaft.Notes: Islamic & Indian Art
