A CHINESE POLYCHROME AND GILT-LACQUER 'MYTHICAL BEASTS' CABINET.
Qing Dynasty, Kangxi period.
Of rectangular form with two doors decorated in thickly applied gilt and lacquer with mythical beasts, herons and birds amongst flowering plants, shrubs and lingzhi, all within a thick border of lotus flower heads between bands of key fret and lozenges, the sides and top similarly decorated, the back plain, the interior fitted with ten drawers, the fittings are paktong, the front lock chased with birds and flowers, the hinges with lotus scrolls, 48 x 35 x 58.9cm.
