A Chinese Kesi weave Dragon robe, Jifu, circa 1850, woven with nine five-clawed dragons, the lower dragons clasp the pearl of wisdom indicating the robe was worn by a high rank noble mandarin, the ground is decorated with a Wan trellis pattern and with large bat symbols of happiness fly among the clouds. Many symbols are delicately painted with shaded details. The robe is originally tailored with matching collar edgings sleeve insets and cuffs. Lined with blue silk.
