Description: A Japanese writing table, Bundai Japan, 19th century designed in gold and silver hiramaki-e, takamaki-e and togidashi embellished with hirame and nashiji against a bright kinji ground, set on four bracket feet and decorated on the top surface with a pine next to a stream and small house and blossoming sakura trees throughout the landscape, the silver hardware finished with scrolling flowers on a finely stippled surface. Catalogue note: The bundai, a low rectangular table with cuspate legs, was used to hold paper and the suzuribako, a lacquer box that held the ink stone, water dropper, ink, and brushes.
