The Hansons worked in Hong Kong in the years before the handover to China, Judith as an academic and a solicitor and Michael as a government official, whose jobs included Refugee coordinator at the height of the Vietnamese boat people crisis and Information coordinator and Government Spokesman for Chris Patten, the last governor of Hong Kong.
