Description: Pair of Persian or Turkish saddlebags, 19th century, with knotted pile and design in red, yellows, and browns. The bags are constructed of two 'rugs' bordered in leather, which are then joined to a third piece of which only the center section has a knotted pile, on either side of a leather lined slit. The upper leather sections of each bad have leather loops, 5 each when intact. The reverse shows the woven foundation in a dense, rough wool. Dimensions are: 53 1/2 inches long X 18 3/4 inches wide.
