Description: A Persian manuscript page dating from 1520, gouache and gold on paper depicting an image from Firdausi's epic poem, Shahnama (The Book of Kings), a book written for and dedicated to Amir Shal Jalal, one of the Mongol Feudal Kings of Persia. The image bears the name of the calligrapher, Mohammed Ibni Hassan the Kateb. The whole surrounded by a silk brocade woven with dragons and housed in a carved wood, rope motif frame. Dimensions are: sight size - 10 1/4 inches tall x 6 1/2 inches wide, framed - 21 inches tall x 13 1/2 inches wide. All measurements are approximate.
