A Chinese gilt bronze figure of Amithaba seated in dhyanasana on a throne, adorned with crown and jewellery, with remains of colour on hair, eyes and mouth, backed by flaming mandorla, on throne inscribed: Da Qing Qianlong Geng Yin Nian Jing Zao - made with respect in Qianlong year of Gengyin - 1770. Provenance: Svend Pontoppidan M?ller, plantation manager for United Plantation in Penang, Malaysia, where he lived from the 1920s to 1960s.
