Description: A WOOD, GLASS BOTTLES AND COWRIE SHELLS TWO-FIGURES RITUAL SCULPTURE
Benin, Fon
27 cm high
Provenance: Vittorio Bellini (1936-2009) collection.
This object was born to be used in the rituals of the 'voodoo', the complex religious form that deeply marks the life of some population on the west coast of Africa. His purpose was essentially to protect himself from evil spells, by conviction always sent by someone, and at the same time to try to defeat him.
