18TH CENTURY IMPERIAL KESI ALBUM OF POEMS ON THE 'WEST LAKE', the album of silk kesi mounted on paper, the first leaf with a kesi panel of a West Lake landscape, and the following leaves of panels in clerical script calligraphy, lishu, of five poems composed by the Qianlong emperor (1736-1795), each poem between five and eight stanzas long and prefaced yuzhi shi, 'Imperially composed Ode', the calligraphy wholly woven in kesi technique in black silk on a cream or unbleached silk ground.
