A LARGE SILVER WIRE CLOISONNé VASE
Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912). The baluster vase decorated in silver wire and polychrome enamels on a royal blue ground with sky-blue and white orchids amid their leaves and tendrils. Original chocolate-brown patinated bronze fittings to foot rim and lip, the latter with a microscopic wave border beneath. The base with incised concentric double circles.

Provenance: Austrian private collection. By repute from a noble estate, where it has been since it was acquired at the Vienna World Fair in 1873.
condition: Superb condition with only few very tiny manufacturing imperfections, a little bit of wear and near-invisible surface scratches.
