A MEIJI PERIOD LACQUER TEBAKO?
Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912). The lidded accessory box with finely painted takamaki-e lacquer as well as stained ivory and silver inlays against a maroon background. We see a bird peacefully perched on the branch of a plum tree. Inside the lid are superbly inlaid and painted lotuses. Red artist signature with Kakihan on the backside.
