Description: Very scarce antique Kangling in very good general conditions. The Kangling is the ritual tibetan trumpet created out of a human femur from a deceased person. Such ceremonial instruments originally hail from the Shamanist religion of Tibet. It is used in Vajrayana buddhism in Tibet during tantric rituals and according to tradition their sound can drive off evil spirits. In the symbology of buddhism the sound of Kangling is compared to recitation of mantra. The base of this Kangling is enveloped of silver richly decorated with a sphere probably of coral. In the centre, where the Kangling is grasped there is a silver ring with decorations and also the beak is enveloped in decorated silver. Ceremony pendant made of brocade silk of different colours and pearls. The kangling is in very good general conditions, there is a patina due to time above all on silver. No damage.
